Object: Taxation of judicial expenses relative to the preparation and printing of factums in appeal
Sir,
I was informed of a disparity of taxation between the clerks of Montreal and Quebec as for the sums allocated for the preparation and printing of factums in appeal or documents served in place of factums, when this preparation is made by lawyers themselves.
To put an end to this disparity and dissipate any misunderstanding, I inform you that from now on, the clerk will tax the expenses relative to the preparation and printing of the factums in appeal or documents served in place of factums, when prepared by lawyers themselves, in the following way:
- 0,27$ a page, multiplied by the number of reproduced copies.
In the same way, taxation of books of authorities will be made as follows:
- 0,25$ a page, multiplied by the number of reproduced copies.
These sums represent the moderate costs to which refers Article 18 of the Rules of practice of the Court of appeal in civil matters.
We will make sure of the diffusion of the present letter by its display at the Montreal and Quebec offices of the court, as well as on our web site (www.tribunaux.qc.ca). A copy will also be given at the next meeting of the Comité de liaison du Barreau de Montréal, on September 18th, 2002.
Yours sincerely,
J.J. Michel Robert
