Ethics and Professional Conduct

Pursuant to the Courts of Justice Act, the Conseil de la magistrature du Québec is made up of 16 members, including the Chief Judge of the Court, who is an ex-officio member and serves as Chairman. As the Supreme Court of Canada has already indicated, judicial ethics mean nothing less than opening ourselves up to perfection and answering a call to do better by observing personally imposed restrictions.

All provincially appointed judges are subject to these rules of professional conduct. The Conseil de la magistrature is the body charged with receiving and examining any complaints lodged against a Court judge, as detailed on its website:
